Senior engineers
The following eight positions are within the Electricity Network Asset Strategy and Planning team in a company which develops,
operates and maintains the electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure in Australia. These roles could see you involved
in long-term network modelling and planning, electricity demand forecasting, monitoring network asset performance, asset failure
analysis, developing refurbishment and maintenance programs, network augmentation studies, business case analysis, concept
design and planning approvals, system protection schemes and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) design and
implementation.
Principal Asset Strategy Engineer
In this role you will develop network strategies, plans and models to manage the company’s electricity network assets. You will
drive the delivery of the Strategic Asset Management plan by working closely with other asset strategy and planning engineers.
Asset Strategy Analyst/Engineer
In this role you will analyse data and create models to solve challenging problems and provide new insights into the management
of the company’s electrical infrastructure. This role would suit an electrical engineer, actuary or statistician.
Senior Network Performance Engineer
In this role you will assess the condition, capacity, utilisation and performance of the company’s overhead, underground and
distribution substation assets to make recommendations on how to manage these assets based on life cycle costing principles.
You will work closely with the network system operations team to monitor feeder reliability and identify options for improvement.
A comprehensive understanding of network design philosophy, asset functions, operational requirements and hazards is required
for this role.
Network Performance Engineer
In this role you will apply technical knowledge and skills to assist with network performance assessments and support the
development of network maintenance, replacement and refurbishment plans. You will provide analytical support for asset
performance trend analysis and root causes. A sound understanding of overhead and underground network asset components
and functions is required for this role.
Senior Zone Substation Planning and Performance Engineer
In this role you will assess the condition, capacity, utilisation and performance of the company’s zone substation assets, make
recommendations and manage the assets based on life cycle costing principals. For new developments you will create option
studies and liaise with relevant government agencies to obtain development approvals and financial authorisations to proceed with
the recommended solutions. A background in high voltage substation primary components and functions is required for this role.
Senior Network Augmentation Engineer
In this role you will be accountable for investigating network modelling outputs to determine likely load growth and capacity
requirements and recommend solutions to address growth and capacity challenges. You will liaise with relevant government
agencies to obtain development approvals and financial authorisations to proceed with the recommended solutions. Knowledge of
overhead or underground high voltage network design and project delivery background is desirable for this role.
Senior SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) Engineer
In this role you will ensure the design and implementation of real-time systems meet agreed standards. You will assess the
condition and performance of the company’s real-time systems and propose asset life cycle management solutions in alignment
with the boarder Asset Management strategy. This role is a challenging and exciting position that will suit a senior engineer with an
understanding of the technologies behind real-time systems.
Protection Engineer
In this role you will design and implement modern system protection schemes. You will deal with the integration of multiple
protection
schemes and understand the application of various protection configurations and technologies. You will evaluate the condition and
performance of the company’s protection system assets and propose life cycle management solutions.
