Program Year Released

The occupation ceilings for the 2017-18 Program Year has been finally released. The result of invitation rounds of 12th and 26th July have been also released.

This report analyses the occupation ceiling for 2017-12018 and the minimum points required for each occupation based on the last two invitation rounds.

There are some bad and good news! The good news is for accountants, Software Engineers and Mechanical Engineers with significantly higher ceilings for these occupations. The bad news is the clients with 60 or 65 points have not been invited in the last invitation rounds for subclass 189.

Skilled Independent Subclass 189 and Skilled – Regional Provisional (Subclass 489 – Family sponsored)

The following graph shows the points for clients who were invited to apply in the 26th July 2017 round. It shows that most of the occupations were invited with 70 points and higher. Unfortunately, no invitations were issued for clients with 60 or 65 points in subclass 189. This is most likely a result of a 3-month backlog of EOIs in the system, and we would expect these to reduce over the next few months.

However, there were 210 invitations were issued for clients with 60 points in subclass 489 (family sponsored). Waiting time was 2 to 3 weeks with these scores.
