Operation Sovereign Borders monthly update: February 2016

Operation Sovereign Borders has released its update for February 2016, which saw no illegal maritime arrivals transferred to Australian Immigration authorities.

During February almost 30 people were returned from immigration detention back to Sri Lanka.

As at 29 February 2016, there were a total of 909 people in the Manus Regional Processing Centre and 470 people residing in the Nauru center.

Of the 820 Initial Assessment Notifications at Manus, 474 were positive and 346 were negative. There were 462 refugees who have been given a positive final determination and 59 of those individuals were residing at the East Lorengau Transit Centre. The remaining 389 were accommodated at Manus.
